Designing Shakespeare Collection - Audience's Visual References
Filename DS_CD_au16.mov
Description Question: Do you think that the audience's response to design has changed, have they become more visually literate over the past forty years or is it a matter of re-educating a new generation of audiences as well? Answer: It's a cultural thing isn't it? I mean culturally the audience, they have a different, kind of, set of references, a much more sophisticated set of references, if you like, because of the way that imagery has become so important through, say, films, magazines and T.V. So I'd say, yes, that partly, maybe, there is a cultural thing but also what the style spin-doctors would have us like at that particular time as well. Question: And do you have to take that onboard and incorporate that while you're designing? You try not to, I think if you wanted to survive and keep going you would try to take that onboard but I'm not sure I could.
