Question: What about working with other designers? Answer: I've only done that when, I'd rather not. But I've done that if I've been asked to design something and there hasn't been enough time for me to do both the sets and the costumes. I've very occasionally worked with a costume designer and I've done the set and they've done the costumes. It's dodgy because you don't know quite how you're going to come together because you can say the same things but actually when you look at the same things you don't see the same things. And so I do that as little as possible. Question: It's, your preference is to work on your own with the, a director? Answer: Yes it is to work on my own with a director. Less, less in more in terms of getting the fusion between your thinking and the whole, you know, all the creative elements that come in to make a production. Gradually it all comes through to what the director wants and chooses. But I like it best if I'm the one who's totally in charge of all the visual elements. |
