Description Question: Do you ever find yourself in a position where what you believe in and what the director believes are not necessarily in line with one another? How do you deal with that sort of creative conflict? Answer: Not very often because I'm not that kind of ego, I don't really walk around with a great big sort of, you know, Õ?I am a designer' Õ? I think it's a bit of fine art snobbery really. I mean in the sense that I am absolutely practical Õ? this is a pragmatic profession where you have to beÕ? able not only to communicate with people, but to accept their ideas as well and find roots for them. Your job is kind of as interpreter as well as a visionary and the visionary thing I find gets a bit sort of Õ?that's all very well, dear, but put it in Hayward gallery' Õ? I mean some things become so kind of self, you know, I have to show self, you know, it's like, it's a bit of a joke.
