Performance Details - Romeo and Juliet

"Kit Surrey's setting, a 'real' three-story balconied villa, is evocatively Italianate in the Zeffirelli tradition...The early scenes, the market-place fight, the dance at the Capulets', are staged as social panoramas, picturesque throngs of servants, soldiers, noblemen freezing occasionally into tableaux to provide Hogarthian backcloths to the central action." Nigel Andrews, Plays and Players 7.71
