Short Desc Twenty-Fifth video interview clip with Theatre Designer Sally Jacobs
Description Question: Do you have any thoughts about the future of, do you think there should be a national Shakespearean company in the UK? Answer: I don't see why not. I don't have any worries about that. I mean, you know, the terrible sort of political correctness of funding these days is that, you know, you have to prove that you are making everything as accessible as possible and this awful word, you know, popularising what ever comes up. And I think that's rubbish. I think that there's absolutely no necessity to reduce standards and call that popular. I think that that, you know, there will always be a huge audience for good Shakespeare no matter how, you know, whatever time you do it. And you don't have to start looking at it now, in some way that, you know, is going to make it more popular. And that's, you know, why. As soon as people learn to love Shakespeare they can't get enough of it. And if it's taught properly then then everyone would love it.
