Description	:	Question: Are you ever surprised by the reaction the audience has? Do they ever have a a reaction that's different to what you anticipated? Answer: Not generally except, you know, in very topical sense. You know a piece will have a different meaning in different countries according to what's going on, you know, politically. When we did the Marat Sade, this is not Shakespeare, but when we did the Marat Sade and the Vietnam war was still on and we took it to New York and Roux makes his speech about let there be an end to all wars and he's in a straight-jacket and he comes thundering down to the audience, screaming at them. Well the whole audience stood up and screamed their applause, you know, all, it didn't happen in London, we, that wasn't our war. Do you know what I mean? So, this is what I mean about there's a contemporary reverberation, depending on where you're playing thing, what time you're playing it, what's just happened in the world, which country you're in. You know, all these sensibilities make it a contemporary theatre.
